Adopt A Block
The IVCSD is re-launching the Adopt a Block (AAB) volunteer opportunity!
Through AAB, community members can come grab a bucket and trash grabber to pick up litter in our neighborhoods. The Isla Vista Recreation & Park District previously provided this community service since the 1980s. Adopt a Block is essential for reducing litter in Isla Vista.
Two Ways to Volunteer:
Join a group cleanup, clean up on your own schedule, or do both. Every bit helps!
Option 1: Group Cleanup Days:
No sign-up required. Just show up and we’ll set you up with supplies.
- When: Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., throughout Fall Quarter 2026 (October 9 – November 20)
- Where: Outside the Isla Vista Community Center, 976 Embarcadero Del Mar, near Naan Stop (see image below)
Option 2: Self-Serve Cleanup
Can’t make the group times? Grab supplies from our Self-Serve shed and clean up whenever it works for you or your organization.
- When: Any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- How to get started: Fill out our interest form, and we’ll send you instructions for accessing the shed.
- Please note: Self-serve cleanups are limited to 3 hours at a time, and court-ordered community service hours can’t be earned through the self-serve option.
